Ayurvedic or aroma oils can help you to alleviate the problems associated with stress, fatigue and some illness. These oils can also help you to care for your skin and in a positive way can improve your beauty routine.

Ayurvedic or Aroma oils allows you to tailor your skin, hair and body care to your individual requirements. It is a simple way of introducing effective treatments for your face and body without having to buy lots and lots of different products. You can adapt the one you already have with Ayurvedic oils.

Mixing these oils into your own creams and lotions is rewarding and enjoyable. You will soon realize how much you can improve your overall appearance and well-being without too much fuss and expense. Also, you will benefit from the soothing aromas of the oils.

First you need to know your skin type, there are different oils for different type of skin. So first check your skin texture and then try these oils. There are majorly five types of skin which are Dry skin, Oily Skin, Hyper-sensitive skin, Combination skin and normal skin.

Once you have decided your skin type, you can begin an effective routine to keep your skin feeling healthy and looking great. Here we discuss the Cleanse, Balance and Moisturize step by step.

Cleansing
An effective cleansing routine will balance your skin and helping it to function it properly. You don’t need to make a squeaky clean. This kind of over-cleansing takes away the skin’s natural protective barrier and leaves it more susceptible to the effect of bacteria and environmental influence such as dust and pollution.
All skin type needs to be clean twice a day. Cleansing in the morning is important. Your skin throws out toxic waste products while you sleep, and if you apply moisturizer straight on to your skin you are preventing this shedding process from being effective.

Ayurvedic cleansers
Using your favorite unperfumed cleansing cream or milk, add any of the following Ayurvedic oil, either single or combination for each skin type. The ratio is two drops of oil to every 4 FL oz (100ml) of cleanser. Here is the

list of oils for different type of skin.

Dry Skin: Chamomile, Geranium, Rose, Ylang-Ylang

Chapped, Cracked Skin: Benzoin, Chamomile

Hyper-sensitive Skin: Chamomile, Neroli, Jasmine & Rose

Broken Capillaries: Neroli, Rose Lemon and Peppermint

Combination Skin: Lavender, Geranium

Normal Skin: Rose, Neroli, Lavender & Sandalwood

Balancing

Skin tonics or fresheners, have two effects on your skin after cleansing

1. They remove the last trace of cleansing milk or cream.

2. They help to remove the skin natural protective mantle.

There are lots of commercial tonics available in market, but below we have some lovely Ayurvedic oils for this. Orange water and rose water are good option but always buy from reliable brand and shop.
As wit the cleansers, the ratio is two drops of Ayurvedic oil to 4 FL oz(100ml) of toner, either used single or in combination. Here are the uses.

Balancing for Oil Skin
Add lemon, lavender, bergamot, juniper and ylang-ylang to witch hazel.

Balancing for Acne
Add lemon grass, lavender, juniper or chamomile to distilled or mineral water.

Balancing for Dry Skin
Add rose, ylang-ylang, geranium or chamomile to rosewater.

Balancing for Hypersensitive skin
Add chamomile, neroli, jasmine or rose to orange flower water.

Balancing for Normal Skin
Add with cleansers, all fresheners/toners are kindest when applied to your skin with damp cotton wool. Gently wipe all over the face and neck, paying careful attention to the creases around your chin. If necessary, repeat once more.

Moisturizing
A moisturizer will protect your skin from moisture loss, helping to keep it soft, smooth and supple. It will also protect your skin from the penetration of grime, chemical and bacteria, we all need moisturizers, even those of us with the oiliest skin, but obviously it’s important to choose the correct one for your skin type.

Apply moisturizer to your skin while it is still slightly damp from balancing. This enhance the moisturizing effect. Spread it gently, first on to your neck, then up on to your face. Being careful not to drag the skin particularly around the delicate eye area.

Make sure your moisturizer contains vegetable oil base. Mineral oil is not compatible with skin, so baby lotion and petroleum jelly products are therefore best avoided.

Day Cream: Lavender, basil, chamomile, lemon
Night Cream: Lavender, neroli, chamomile

Moisturizing for Acne

Day Cream: Lemongrass, bergamot, lavender

Moisturizing for Dry Skin

Day Cream: Rose, geranium, neroli
Night Cream: Frankincense, jasmine, rose, ylang-ylang

Moisturizing for Hypersensitive Skin

Day Cream: Chamomile, Lavender
Night Cream: Neroli, jasmine, rose, chamomile

Moisturizing for Broken Capillaries

Day Cream: Chamomile, Lavender
Night Cream: Neroli, Rose chamomile

Moisturizing for Normal Skin

Day Cream: Lavender, rose
Night Cream: Lavender, rose, neroli.
